Oh yes I did I made a replica of River Song's Journal, also known as a "Book Of Spoilers", aren't you impressed and incredibly jealous? Im extremely obsessed with the enchanting British sci-fi television series called Doctor Who. If you don't watch it/haven't heard of it, or are just a casual watcher of the show, this blog entry will probably make absolutely no sense to you, even though I will try my best to explain why the book is significant. If you already know, or simply don't care....you are free to skip over it:)
Explanation: The main character of the show "The Doctor", and a woman in the show "River", are both time travelers, and they have an ongoing relationship in the series. Seeing as how they both travel in time, they always seem to meet in the wrong order. River keeps a journal/diary of all their "dates" (adventures ect.) and always asks the Doctor "Where are we?" when they meet up so she can get a sort of point of reference where they are in the relationship. The reason she does this, is that they lead very complicated lives, and she doesn't want to accidentally give something crucial away....as that could change set events in time altogether.
Heres a tribute-type fanmade vid of their relationship so far, if anyone's interested : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOBu_cYNkcg&feature
Why am I such a geek?: I haven't the slightest(:
FORWARD MARCH!
See how cool it looks??? :D

Here's my "offical" promo picture, as it were. (:
No Effects here-just true blue color. "Hello sweetie!...now let's see, where are we this time?"
Doctor: *reaches for journal* River: Nope. Your not allowed to see inside the book...it's against the rules. Doctor: Who's rules? River: *pause* Yours.

"Spoilers!"
*gaspeth* And now continue for: River Song's Journal, the making. For all those interested I've decided to put together a step-by-step, so I don't have to answer the "how did you do it?" questions. Call it selfish, call it insightful, call it boredom if you will, but it's my pleasure. Please enjoy:)

I began with the paper. Normal "printer paper" cut to the right size of the cardboard i was making the book with. Individually handpainted with brewed coffee (leftover) on each side of the paper.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1yVrMYJTygQqg-C3weo21-_rBMMAaG4PKeg1Aw7tsq_6x9Tq8ERs7thNPDvgWig3xnFgfMmOTzL-z-__YYJ5hKQzjdJTQOC1KvL1AnyVpLASvPidfxcioadbi9SAPWkUZV7QPMTrg6By4/s320/DSC01025.JPG)
And hung to dry. I found myself doing it in "batches" over a course of about three days. Very time consuming.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRrDf5msHn_PpjmlD8cJOrk7O9Qs73EkdrUl2EEIk6fcz2rkCGyyedoDwvLV7Z93bmiatPPICQoMGBfYCI3Q5vyab3OFT9y5MBq-ZPzVFO0MZ6fg7QbFQgHWhofZh4-cKjxict_3ellXnP/s320/DSC01028.JPG)
Here is the result! Quite good if I do say so myself. I do question though if I should have stained the pages with tea instead. The whole book gives off a coffee scent now...which is fine, I like coffee...but other people might not. The scent may dissipate over time...not sure.

Okay, quite a jump in progress here, because, quite frankly I just forgot to take picturesXD Ignore the blue bits taped on for a second, and notice that the front and back covers are the same size sturdy cardboard. The binding is three of four (can't remember -do four for good measure:)) layers of industrial duct tape.
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiE_tUSAZMJmIUpCBPiOrqt7LAXT9M0uTt66KUUbmLGz6I9B8r1jq8cUCgatfzm3w0PK2kwmM9aWR9mRnYyoTJ0T9ZRoV_9IA5riEDs1VRctkePX8V2YykMlK7fn1GddAZAw7tlyPeBSCb7/s320/Photo+on+2011-10-23+at+22.01+%25232.jpg)
Then I covered the front of the covers and binder with cream colored masking tape^^(above) for texture.

Studied a picture of the prop from the tv show for the pattern of the raised bits,
![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijYjTwf9EzCXSiWA9ZLCdRfD4KVeKDwGjixwoGZhaa3S-sqAz2lOgw-Tjiu8NAU9HA4D_EztiV0SDq6HxUIa7dAd05B7H2geY83bfJ0BoWMI_bLaMluOc4VidS_qPUx7v3GzJ3Lpv7YWEg/s320/matte+photo+rame.jpg)
And cut the pattern out of photo frame matte. Now I cut with regular scissors, (not only was it time consuming, but it also made my hand very sore...having to cut through thick material for a long period of time) but other people have cut out the pattern with an excat-o-knife or box cutter and gotten much cleaner results (not to mention their hands probably weren't screaming at themXD). ♢♢♢ I then pasted my cut out pattern on to the front and back covers using hot glue. I also glued detail on the binding, but that's optional. ♢♢♢ Next step was painting over the front, back and binding using a mixture of "Too Blue" and "Island Blue" acrylic paint. ♢♢♢Then I took blue tissue paper and smoothed it over the wet paint, and pushed into all the crevasses with the end of a paintbrush, and let it dry.

After drying, I taped the overlapping tissue paper into the inside of the book.

Next I broke out my blue, black, dark green and gold paint, and went crazy. I wanted it to have that weathered and worn feeling.

I also painted paper of the right size and glued it on the inside of the covers for an "official" look. Optional. ...I've never seen the inside COVERS of River's book...not that I can remember at least (and there is a shocking lack of original reference pictures online), so I just imagined what would look cool(: ...♢♢♢ I hot glued all the pages for the book together individually, then hot glued them inside the book. If you think that sounds like shoddy workmanship, its notXD I can assure you...the book, feels like a real book...and it won't fall apart....unless someone actually tries to rip it apart (but that is true with any book...no, duh;))

TAH DUHSSS! :D
And now I shall be inside a replica as well!-When there are pictures to post, I will post them...
...it's going to be alot of work, and I'm going to have to geek my brains out, and seriously OD on the tv show (at least the episodes with River in them...). But heyyyyy, I think I can power through! *dances* ♢♢♢♢♢♢ Won't you comment my sweet piggies??
How did you glue the pages together. I mean you said you hot glued them, but in what way...um this question is not making sense, never mind.
